Organisation

Budapest Open is organised by the Budapest Athletics Association (Budapesti Atlétikai Szövetség).

It's called "open" because in fact the international meeting is part of the Budapest championships which are organised over 2 days, the week-end. The International meeting is dedicated to Ágoston Schulek (*) and takes place on the first day, Saturday.

The competition takes place on the prestigeous IKARUS BSE club's track which offers excellent conditions.

*) Ágoston Schulek (born August 6, 1943 in Košice and died October 2, 2011 in Budapest) is a former three-time Hungarian Pole Vault Championship gold medalist, Hungarian coach and associate professor. He was President of the Hungarian Athletics Federation and Honorary President of the Hungarian Olympic Committee until his death.
